Why This Site Exists
Florida treats most jail and inmate information as public, yet the hard part is rarely the law. The real trouble is knowing which agency to ask. A person booked into the county jail shows up in a different system than someone sent to state prison, and federal or immigration detainees appear somewhere else again. We built this site to clear up that confusion for Dixie County. The local roster is run by the Dixie County Sheriff's Office, and it covers people awaiting court and those serving short sentences. Sentenced state prisoners are listed by the Florida Department of Corrections in its own offender locator. Federal and immigration holds turn up in still other databases. We gather the rosters, locators, phone lines, visitation rules, and records-request steps for each of these into one place so you do not have to learn the whole system before you can use it.
What You Will Find Here
The pages here are organized around the questions people actually ask when someone they know is arrested or jailed.
- Help looking up a person in custody, including jail inmate records, jail roster mugshots, and court records after a jail arrest
- A dedicated page for each detention facility in or serving Dixie County, with the address, phone number, and visitation details
- Plain step-by-step walkthroughs for the county jail roster and the statewide Florida inmate locator
- Guidance on requesting a booking record or mugshot, plus what kind of response time to expect from the office that holds it
What We Cannot Do
It helps to be clear about our limits. This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to the Dixie County Sheriff's Office, the county jail, the Florida Department of Corrections, or any other sheriff, jail, court, or government agency in the state. We point you toward official sources, but we are not one.
- We cannot release, hold, or transfer anyone who is in custody
- We cannot post bond, set up a visit, or send money to an inmate for you
- We cannot give legal advice of any kind
- We cannot promise that every phone number, fee, or address stays current
Only the sheriff's office or the corrections department can confirm whether someone is in custody, what they are charged with, or when they may be released. This site can send you to the right roster, but the official answer always comes from the agency that holds the record.
Search Partners
Some pages include search boxes that are powered by outside companies. Those providers set their own prices and run their own results, and we do not control either one. When one of these tools leads a visitor to a paid signup, the site may earn a referral fee. Those fees are what let us keep the rest of the site free to use. We point this out plainly so you always know when a tool is run by a partner rather than by a government office.
